Dr. Robert W. Timpe was born and raised in the Peninsula and graduated from Awalt High School, now Mountain View High School. He completed his dental training at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco.

 

Dr. Timpe joined the Navy Dental Core and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. After his service with the Navy, Dr. Timpe went into private practice in Palo Alto as a general dentist for five years.

During his dental training, Dr. Timpe found it very rewarding to help children with their dental needs. After eight years of general practice, he realized his true calling was in pediatrics. He then pursued a two-year pediatric dental residency at Oakland Children’s Hospital.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Timpe joined Dr. Robert Smithwick in 1982, who had established the first pediatric dental practice in Sunnyvale in 1958. The location is the same now and has been since newly remodeled
